The world is home to 45 million who are blind. In fact, every 3rd blind person in the world is an Indian. About 90% of the worlds visually impaired live in developing countries. Globally, uncorrected refractive errors are the main cause of visual impairment; cataracts remain the leading cause of blindness in middle- and low-income countries.80% of Indian population especially the elderly poor lives deep in the rural countryside having little or no access to adequate medical aid.

Certificates were awarded to 36 students for Master G Apparel Designing and Fabrication, and 48 students for computer literacy by Ms. Gayatri Jolly and Mr. Sumit Khosla (Sr. General Manager of Fena Pvt. Ltd.) on 16th August. On 5th September, certificates were given to 72 students for computer literacy by Mr. Abubrat Ruben (AGM of Fena), Mr. Rahul and Ms. Nilanjana from NIIT Foundation

Among the students awarded for computer literacy, 15 of them have been engaged in job and 3 students among those awarded for the Master G Apparel Designing and Fabrication, are running their own boutique

On 3rd May, Mr. Dk Boss(social worker), counselled, guided and motivated the students at our Tughlakabad center. The students were highly inspired by his words of wisdom

Serve Samman Vocational Training Center at Sangam Vihar & Noida Supported by: C&S Electric Limited

 


Due to an increasing requirement for vocational skills, specially for the government Jobs, students who are looking to make a career out of it, Serve Samman boosts of ACC, BCC&CCC Computer courses.

Shri Rajeev Puri (Vice President of C&S Electric Limited) distributed awards and certificates to 23 students for computer literacy, 21 students for fashion designing and 15 students for beauty culture at the Noida center on 25th April. Besides this, Ms. Radhika Kapoor (Director of C&S Electric Limited) gave away awards and certificates to 77 students for computer literacy, 40 students for fashion designing and 48 students for beauty culture on 26th July at the Sangam Vihar center.

Moreover, we are proud and elated to inform that the sheer hard work that we put down for our students, 36 out of it are engaged in the call center field, offices, Institutes, 23 students are currently employed in garments boutiques and\or started their own boutiques & 26 students are engrossed in parlours or running their own parlours.

On 20th April, we celebrated Easter with great joy and excitement. Vesna, Jacob, Daniel and Anurag took the noble cause in their own hands by distributing water bottles and food packages among all the kids present on the auspicious day

Independence Day was celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm by our students. Sweets, Copies, Books and Pencils were distributed among all the kids of Nursery class.

On Teacher’s Day, our students sang melodious patriotic songs and poems and dedicated them to the teachers

We guide children who have never been to school for education by teaching them the significance of basics of reading, writing, drawing, work of art, etiquette & hygiene. We help them to prepare for school admissions.

Fruit Plantation : Supported by M/s Volga Transmissions Pvt. Ltd.

 

We have started fruit plantation in villages in order to protect the environment and increase the income of small farmers. We have planted/ given more than 1000 mango and guava plants to small farmers of Bhatpura, Khaguawas (Bulandshahr), Ritoli (Sikandrabad), Dadupur (Dankaur), Beel Akbharpur and Saidampur (Gautambudh Nagar).


More Special Moments

 

There were more joyous events that took place.

On 27th July, our students participated in Pinkathon Practice, Yoga & Zumba dance.

On the occasion of Teej, our students managed to earn Rs. 15000/- by applying mehandi at Teej Utsav in Greater Kailash-I, New Delhi, which was organized by Mrs. Anju Khanna.

On 18th August, our students participated in a song competition at Inner Wheel NGO, Jasola Vihar and they were awarded.

On Teacher’s Day, our students sang melodious patriotic songs and poems and dedicated them to the teachers.

On 15th & 16th October Karva Chauth celebration were done with great enthusiasm our Parlor students applied Mehandi in M and C Block of Greater Kailash-I. We feel proud to inform that they earned Rs.50,000/- and were highly appreciated for their dedication.

NEPAL RELIEF

 

Very recently on April 25th, yet another major disaster hit our neighboring nation, Nepal with a massive earthquake of a 7.8 magnitude. So far, over 5,000 people have perished and thousands more are expected dead or injured. The Aftershocks of the earthquake are still occurring, leaving thousands of people each day without food and shelter.

Our Team of doctors left for NEPAL, with the first batch of relief material on 7th May 2015. The next batch is ready to dispatch soon.

We urgently your support in the form of :

  • Material:- Large quantities of medicines, peanuts, milk powder, good quality solar torches, torch and batteries, umbrellas, water purifier tablets, chlorine tablets, dry food etc.
  • Monetary contributions:- for logistics and essential purchases. (All monetary contributions are tax exempted u/s 80G)

14th Anniversary Celebrations Of Naandi Day

 

Naandi Foundation began operations on the 1st of November, 1998. Celebrations were held in all the mandals to celebrate the occasion. Programs to celebrate the same were organized by the Academic Resource Coordinators of respective mandals. Sport competitions were conducted for the children and parents of Nanhi Kali. And prizes were distributed towards the end of the event. But amongst all the fun, the gathering was also educated about the Nanhi Kali program. – Drop this if there are no supporting images

Tuticorin Talent Hunt

 

Inter-school competitions were organized at the RC School, Therespuram on 9th Feb 2013. Project Nanhi Kali along with Sterlite Copper jointly organized the "TALHUNT", attended by 1500 children from 72 different schools across Tuticorin. Events like such as 200m dash, lemon race, memory games and numerous others were enjoyed by the kids.

Mummy Exhibition, Mumbai

 

In the last week of February, Reliance Foundation and BP, in collaboration with the British Museum and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, brought to India an award winning exhibition, ‘Mummy: The Inside Story’. The exhibition focused on the secrets of an Egyptian priest who died nearly 3000 years ago depicted by a 3D film.


This was an eye opener for 22 Nanhi Kalis that got an opportunity to participate. Nanhi Kali hopes to continue providing several more underprivileged girls in India with such opportunities.
